TEMPORARY CIRCULATION CHANGES

Important Library Update!

Beginning June 13, the Cranford Public Library’s consortium—currently known as LMxAC—will be renamed STELLA. With 43 member libraries located in Union, Middlesex, and Monmouth counties, our cardholders will continue to have access to a shared catalog with over 3.2 million items, but going forward it will be quicker and easier to locate, request and receive items from these other libraries.

Also at this time, STELLA will be rolling out a redesigned library catalog and updated library app.

While these changes occur, there will be a transition period when things are a little different…

Timeline

  • June 4 through June 12: Limited library services

  • June 13: New library system available

What this means to you, our patrons:

From now until at least the middle of June, you will not see new material on our shelves. This is a good time to catch up on books/materials that you have missed. Please continue to enjoy the material currently on our shelves.

From June 4-June 12 the following services will not be available:

  • Placing new holds (current holds will stay active)

  • Issuing new library cards

  • Revising or renewing existing library cards

  • Payment of any fees/fines

  • Placing new InterLibrary Loan (ILL) requests

During this period:

  • Due dates will be extended.

  • Library card expiration dates will be extended.

  • No overdue fees will accumulate, because we are already a fine-free library!

Patrons may continue to checkout materials, subject to limitations:

Patrons must bring their physical library card (or present card number on mobile app). We will not be able to look up accounts by name.

Patrons may continue to use Hoopla and Libby to borrow digital materials.

On June 13 our new library system launches with a redesigned library catalog and updated library app. The new catalog is more intuitive and user friendly and will make it easier than ever to find what you’re looking for, manage your account, and to discover new things along the way!

Sneak Peak! Features Of Our New Catalog

Selecting Desired Format

With the new rollup capability, you can select your desired format directly from the search results. Tabs will indicate formats such as book, large print, eBook, eAudiobook, and more, for easy selection.

Author Details

Clicking on the author’s name anywhere in the new catalog brings up a page with biographical information, books and resources written by the author, items of related topics, and more!

Series

Another helpful feature in the new catalog is that when you’re viewing details about a book that is part of a series, you’ll easily be able to find other books in that same series.

FAQs

Will my current holds carryover to the new system?

  • Yes. Holds placed prior to June 3 will be moved to our new system.

Can I save a copy of my loan history to the new system?

  • No. Some patrons have enabled loan history in our current system to help them remember which books they have read. Unfortunately, this cannot be moved over to the new system, however you can save/print a copy for yourself. Navigate to the catalog and sign in to your account. Under Account Activity, select Loan History. There is an option to print, once you select your dates. Our new system will be able to keep track of your loan history (once you enable this service).

Will I still be able to access my ebooks/audiobooks through Libby and Hoopla?

  • Yes. Ebooks and audiobooks through our digital services Hoopla and Libby will still be available.

Why is a returned item still showing on my account?

  • During the period of June 4-June 13 will are unable to check in return material. We will begin to check in all returned material on June 13 and no fines/overdues will accumulate. Please be patient as it may take us a few days get through all returned material.
